Note: This school has a sister school, North Star Academy.

Our schools were built on a model for school success that includes a strong focus on leadership, learning environment, pedagogy and curriculum, assessment and student and family support systems.  As we've developed, we've enhanced this model through our involvement with a school wide Positive Behavior Intervention Systems (PBIS) focus and a Response to Intervention (RTI) model that includes supports for reading, math and behavior.

Since opening in 1997, Duluth Edison Charter Schools has grown to a two site school serving approximately 1,300 students grades K-8.  With the mission of  'Academic and personal excellence for every student', the heart of the school is a strong commitment to reading and math as foundational skills for students.  On this foundation, students hands on learning in science and history builds their academic skills.  All students participate in our specialists subjects of art, Spanish, physical education and music (band, choir or music appreciation for grades 5 and above).  As a data driven school, students who show learning needs related to reading, math or behavior skills receive additional instruction through our RTI model.  A rich array of after school activities is offered for all grade levels.  Our life as a school community is centered on our PBIS focus of "be safe, be kind and be responsible."
